Not only it happens at the air-port, but it also happen at the
high-way bus terminals, train stations, jetties or harbors, etc. At
air-port, if you take a taxi inside the premise of the air-port, the
price is sky high. So, you are suggested to take a taxi outside the
premise of the air-port. Though it is called "metered taxis", no taxi
run by meter. It is without the will of the passengers. The price or
the cost of hiring of the "Parami taxis" are much higher than the
price of "city taxis". The amount of the hiring cost of metered taxis
are only up to the taxi drivers. They judge the passengers then they
make the price. For example, one passenger needs to pay only Ks. 1,000
whereas other passenger must pay Ks. 3,000 for the same destination. I
don't know whether it is called a "open door policy or market
strategy". I don't know who is the owner of the Parami taxis and what
is his / her relationship with the high-government officials. Do you
want to know the condition of the metered taxis compared to even
neighboring countries? Yes,the condition of the most of the metered
taxis running in Yangon (Rangoon) are really amazing (body of the
cars' condition, inside the cars' condition, condition of the seats or
sofas, condition of the doors, handles of the doors, engine, etc,
etc). If it rains, you can hardly or you cannot lift up the window
glass or you cannot closed the windows of the taxi so you become wet
sitting inside the taxis. It is really amazing and it may attract to
more and more tourists. I don't know. it may show the reputation of
the country and of course the government. If you wanted to point out,
there are a ton of things to say about Myanmar (Burma). Are these
considered as politic? I don't know. I believe these are not
considered as politics. If it is really a "transactional period to
democracy" it must allow political talks too.
